Floodgate Farm is about helping current and future generations establish a connection to their food, educating on people to grow their own food and prepare healthy, nutritious meals, and developing healthful, regenerative lifestyles. They go about this through sales of produce, educating farmers market customers, on-farm workshops, a program called "Salad University," and a farm and garden radio show. Shortly After Moving To Anderson Valley (Northern California) From Santa Monica (Southern California). My Future Husband, Bill Taylor, And I Were On A Quest To Find The Perfect Place For Us To Live In Peace And Harmony With Nature, Grow Our Own Food, And Support The Next Generation Of Farmers In This Country. We Both Believe Strongly That When Your Country Has A Wealth Of Farmers, And Can Support Its Food Needs, Everyone Thrives. And A Country That Can Grow Its Own Food -- Is Rich. October 2011 We Married. We Found Our Place In February 2012. This Is Floodgate Farm. We are located on a 195 acre mountain site with off-grid solar and hydro electricity above Redwood Valley. We have 2 acres deer-fenced with annual and perennial vegetables and orchard trees and shrubs. We have been creating perennial plant guilds in the vegetable and orchard areas and learning what actually works well and what does not. Our specialty is a 40-ingredient herbal, floral and greens salad. We conduct classes about the properties of the ingredients and how to grow them effectively.
